This will need to be done for the first time when you try to move/copy a file in an external storage device. When you try to move/copy a ‘file/folder’ a dialog appears to give permission to modify data on your device, click on ‘OK’ select SD card/USB, and press ‘SELECT’.

Astro File Manager gives you complete control over all your files. You can search, share, and manage your pictures, music files, videos, and docs. Have all your files accessible at your fingertips – whether on SD card, internal memory, cloud storage services (like Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Microsoft OneDrive), or local networks via PC, Mac, or Linux device.
To enable dark theme, go to the ‘Settings’ screen from the home screen (icon on top right corner) and then tap the ‘Dark theme’ option and choose the theme you want to, also switch back to other themes in the same way.
- Press & hold a file and it will be highlighted
- Tap the overflow menu on the top right-hand side of the screen. Click on the overflow menu present against the file/folder
- Tap on the Copy to../Move to.. option
- Navigate where you want to Copy/Move the file and tap on ‘Paste’
- Open the Home screen.
- Tap on the + icon near Storage locations.
- Choose the cloud location which you want to add.
- Alternatively, you can also add cloud locations from the ‘Files’ tab, click on the ‘storage location dropdown’ with an arrow on top, a dropdown will appear, tap on ‘Add Storage locations’ from the dropdown menu.
- Press & hold a file and it will be highlighted.
- Tap the overflow menu on the top right-hand side of the screen./click on the overflow menu present against the file/folder.
- Tap on ‘Rename’.
- Press & hold a file and it will be highlighted.
- A trash can icon will appear once a file is highlighted.
- Tap on the icon to delete a file.
- It will ask you ‘Are you sure you want to delete this file?’
- Tap on ‘Delete’.
- Open the Home screen.
- Tap on ‘Internal shared storage’ in ‘Storage locations’.
- Alternatively, tap on the ‘Files’ tab from button navigation.
- Open the Home screen.
- Tap on any of the cloud locations that you have been signed into.
- Navigate through the cloud storage
- To switch between different cloud locations click on the ‘cloud location’ name with an arrow on top, a dropdown will appear and all signed in cloud locations will appear here and you can switch between them.
- Navigate to the location in ASTRO File Manager where you wish to create a folder.
- Click on the round floating action button(”+”) to be able to add a new folder.
- Go to Settings from the top right ‘Cog wheel’ ⚙️ on Home.
- Tap on ‘Set Default View Settings’
- Navigate to the location you wish to set as a favorite.
- Tap the menu on the top right-hand side of the screen./click on the overflow menu present against the file/folder
- Tap on ‘Add Favorite’
Open the Home screen and scroll down to bottom to find your favorites.
Connect the USB device to the device running ASTRO. It can take up to 10 seconds for the device to be registered.
After the device is recognized, a dialog will appear on the screen stating the same.
The USB device will now appear as a storage location on the home screen and in the storage location dropdown in the files tab.
Remove the SD card from the phone, connect it to a regular desktop or laptop with a USB adaptor, and rename the card. Renaming the card gives it the needed label. It will now work in Astro File Manager.
- Open the Home screen.
- Tap on the + icon near Storage locations
- Tap on ‘SMB Server’
- Enter ‘Host’ which is the local-server-name to which you want to connect
- Enter ‘Path’, the name of the file/folder to which you want to make a connection
- Enter ‘Display name’ how you want it to be shown on the home screen.
- Choose the option ‘Continue as guest’ if you want to just view the files in location else choose the ‘Login with username and password’ option
- Enter the credentials and you should be able to access the network path.
